Yin yoga releases the fascia and connective tissues, ligaments and joints enhancing flow of the Qi (energy) through the meridians (energy channels) of our bodies. Participants will hold asanas for a long time so the mind is attenuated in its outward distractions to rest with breath.

Yang yoga emphasizes active, dynamic movement and targets the muscle groups, bones and marrow to stimulate inner heat and energy within the body. Marta opens up the workshop with an active sequence, geared to warm and twist up the bodies.

We then move through a yin sequence led by Lindell, in which longer held postures will create space along the pathways of the liver and gallbladder meridians, resulting in a feeling of overall lightness and relaxation. This workshop is designed to restore the healthy flow of Qi (energy) through the liver and gallbladder meridians which support the body’s natural digestive and detoxification functions. Springtime is associated with the element Wood according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. A person with a balanced Wood element will adapt their plans with the changing world, while those out of balance will settle into frustration and anger. Spring is the time of year that this can be most prevalent as we plan our summers and set course for the upcoming year. In TCM, the Wood element is energetically related to the liver and gallbladder.

Have you ever felt your body was completely irrational? It’s not. It’s hormonal. Hormones influence you throughout your life at every stage of your life. Mentioning the word hormones often elicits blank stares or comments that it’s relevant only to women over fifty. When hormones are not in balance, you don’t feel great.

In short: Hormone Yoga is highly recommended to all women of 35 , and to younger women if they have hormonal imbalances. Hormone Yoga balances the entire glandular system and (re)activates hormone production. The asanas in the Hormone Yoga Workshops consist of a number of poses (mainly from Hatha and Kundalini Yoga) combined with dynamic breathing and visualization techniques that specifically work on the ovaries, thyroid, adrenals and pituitary.

It was initially developed for women entering (peri)menopause, but it was soon discovered that Hormone Yoga was also highly beneficial for women with all kinds of hormonal disbalances, ranging from PMS, slow thyroid, fertility problems, hormonal migraine, low sex drive, cysts, PCOS, irregular cycle, etc. In this workshop teachers Ineke Van Nieuwenhove and Dinah Rodrigues (90 and still teaching!) inspire women to let go of their fears and confusion about their bodies and to embrace their hormones by stepping into a partnership with their bodies. The workshop will help (re)balance hormones bringing a feeling of fitness and vitality.

Afro Yoga Workshops

Afro Yoga Workshop

Afroyoga is presented to you by Tanya Galibus: 4 elements and infinity is a rational approach to the integration of body-oriented practices from the various dance and movement traditions/techniques.

Sunday 4 June 2017 from 10.00am to 11.30am

Afro Yoga combines Silvestre technique (AfroBrazil) and symbolism of nature elements, Shivananda yoga asanas’ sequences combined with yoruba technique exercises (Afrocuban) and classical floorbar movements and stretches, enhanced with intensive West African dancing.

It increases body strength, elasticity, ability to relax and improves the quality of movement for afro dancers or yoga practitioners.

It balances the consience and releases the blocks similar to a yoga class. The effect of yoga practice is enhanced by the magic and poetry of afro dance.

The 1.5 hour workshop is an introduction to Afroyoga and nature elements through afromovement and asanas.

After the great success of the 26 March Family Yoga Workshop Despina is very happy to host it again. ‘Traditionally Yoga is a solitary practice, the art of uniting with our entire self. However, when practiced in a group we absorb courage and solidarity from all the people surrounding us and this strengthens the spirit even more.

What if this group includes our children? Their pure energy, vivid imagination and enthusiasm can turn a yoga session into a family experience. An hour of family yoga is an opportunity to hold space and time so that we can care and support each other. We can practice playfully, break some rules, discover something new and also breathe together. Children learn to trust and expand, parents remember how it feels to be restless and witty. Hopefully we all go home with a few tricks under our sleeve of how to deal with life’s every day stressful events in a more funny way or to simply relax and enjoy the messy bliss of family life again.

Learn how to tune into creative awareness through yoga and explore to develop or even find our creative side through our yoga practice. During the yin and yang yoga class we will relax into postures that encourage creativity and use creative visualization to connect to our unconscious mind. The workshop is designed to provide you with the tools to guide your yoga practice into a creative direction and allow you to observe what rises naturally to the surface when you’re truly relaxed. With guided meditation (in particular yoga nidra) you can observe how unconscious processes play a role in achieving creative awareness and insights. Bring an open mind, pen and a notepad.
