Why you Practice? Find the right Yoga Styles for You!
How to choose the Yoga Styles and the Yoga Class that is right for you? Have a look at this quick guide to help you discover what yoga styles you are looking for:
- Your main reason for practicing: Are you looking for a meditative yoga class, or to work up more of a sweat. Or are you attracted to the restorative and relaxing benefits of yoga? Are you searching for a spiritual experience, or relief from a physical pain?
- Specific need: Do you want a lot of attention from your teacher through adjustments, encouragement or do you like to practice in a group setting? Do you prefer to be gently nudged?
- If none of that works, look at what speaks to you most.
- Finally always remember to do whatever it is that makes you want to do yoga and do more yoga!!!
There is no good or bad in yoga. There is also no right or wrong, superior or inferior style. All Yoga Styles are different and our teachers each have their own Yoga Styles. And also remember that the asana practice is just one of six branches of yoga outlined in sacred texts. If a physical practice feels limiting, explore one of the other five branches such as meditation.

YIN WITH CRYSTAL SOUND BOWL BATH
The first part of the class is a deliciously relaxing and also deep stretching yin yoga class. Yin yoga works the deeper yin connective tissues of ligaments, joints, fascial networks and bones. In this way, all of our tissues are exercised. Yin yoga, like yang, provides optimum physical health, mental and emotional balance, and increased energy. Practiced together with meditation, and types of yoga (ashtanga and others) and also mindfulness meditation practices, there can be an extraordinary synchronisation of body and mind, leading to a complete life transformation.
In the second half of our class relax in shavasana as you absorb the pure sounds of the music of alchemy crystal bowls. These rare and beautiful instruments give you the opportunity to direct your healing intentions to whatever sphere you need: emotional, physical, spiritual. Effortlessly mixing this clear resonance with body and intention can produce very deep levels of relaxation and healing. Crystal sound bowl healing is highly recommended for those experience the stress of daily life, to find deep relaxation and a new sense of clarity, like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
MINDFUL FLOW YOGA
New at the Brussels Yoga Loft are the Mindful Flow classes. A mindful flow seamlessly connects from one pose to another. There will be a new sequence every week with a different focus combining both ashtanga and yin inspired asanas and sequences. The joining – inherent to yoga – of the different style sis what makes this class a unique experience. Each class brings a balance between developing strength and flexibility.
YINYASA FLOW YOGA
YINyasa is a fluid flow of yin yoga poses targeting an all-over-body improvement in range of motion & flexibility. Moving at a slightly faster pace than a traditional yin class, we hold poses for 2 – 3 minutes & balance with some gentle yang counter-poses to stimulate the flow of energy. The level is adaptable to everyone – all are welcome! Make sure to look for this class on the schedule as it is not always on offer.
A regular yoga practice can help to counter the stress experienced by children as well as being hugely beneficial for encouraging self-confidence, body awareness, concentration and focus. Physically, it develops children’s flexibility, strength and brain-body coordination. By teaching techniques for breathing, mindfulness, relaxation, self-calming and positive attitude, we can equip children with important tools for which to deal with the stress of living in a chaotic world of constant stimulation.
Kidding Around Yoga brings all the advantages of movement, mindfulness and meditation to children in a fun and engaging way. KIDDING AROUND YOGA (KAY) can share with children the five branches of Yoga at a level appropriate for young minds and bodies. Every KAY class offers a complete Yoga practice that includes: stretching and strengthening poses, relaxation techniques, breathing instruction as well as music, games, and imagination. KAY is not your typical Yoga class; it gets children singing, dancing, skipping, marching, jogging, shaking, laughing, hopping, limbo-ing, and storytelling ALL while practicing Yoga to music.
